ABD’de senatörler Cynthia Lummis ve Pat Toomey; Demokratlar, Cumhuriyetçiler ve Hazine Bakanlığı arasında, büyük tartışma yaratan kripto paraların vergilendirilmesi maddesi üzerinde uzlaşma sağlandığını duyurdular.
Yapılan duyuruda taraflar, söz konusu hüküm üzerinde, blok zinciri doğrulayıcıları muaf tutulacak şekilde görüş birliğine vardılar. Yapılan basın açıklamasında, yazılım geliştiricileri, node operatörleri ve doğrulayıcıların işlem bilgilerinin taşınması veya raporlanmasının gerekmeyeceği, bununla birlikte broker’ların kapsamda olacağı belirtildi.
Bundan sonra Senato’nun Salı günü yapılması planlanan nihai oylamadan önce uzlaşılan hüküm için oy birliğiyle onayı gerekiyor. Aksi takdirde ABD Temsilciler Meclisi’ne 1 trilyon dolarlık altyapı tasarısının sektör oyuncuları tarafından istenmeyen ve kripto paralar için geniş bir “broker” tanımı içeren ilk hali gönderilecek.
Oluşturulan yasa tasarısı, 1 trilyon dolarlık altyapı yatırımları için hazırlandı. Burada yapılacak olan harcamanın 28 milyar dolarlık bölümünün kripto paralardan alınacak vergilerle finanse edilmesi hedeflenmişti. Tasarının ilk halindeki broker tanımı, aslında tanım içerisine girmemesi gereken yazılım geliştiricileri, donanım üreticileri, kripto para madencileri ve diğer ağ doğrulayıcılarını da kapsıyordu. Kripto para yanlısı senatörler Ron Wyden, Cynthia Lummis ve Pat Toomey, bu ağ katılımcılarını muaf tutan bir değişiklik önerisinde bulunmuştu. Daha sonra diğer senatörler Ron Portman, Mark Warner ve Kyrsten Sinema da, yalnızca Bitcoin gibi iş kanıtına dayalı çalışan ağlarla, hisse kanıtına dayalı çalışan ağları kapsam dışında bırakan bir değişiklik önerdi. Beyaz Saray da bu değişikliğe açık destek vermişti. Sonunda altı senatör de bir değişiklik üzerinde uzlaştılar.
